During our time living in the Willamette valley, we ate these marionberries every summer, preserved them in jams, and made many pies to freeze. Completely smitten with their extraordinary taste. No other blackberry comes close.
Since moving to Washington, finding these berries became hard at first, then impossible. Happily, I found a farm to buy them from. It's no where near me, but who cares. We will bee off for a road trip and adventure. The kitchen will be prepared for some serious canning, followed by vacuum sealing and freezing. Once the delicious work is done, I must make the piece de resistance--a large marionberry pie.
Are you drooling yet?
By the way, adding them to scones, cakes, and breads....unimaginable. The least you can do as the reader is to find Ellen's Greek yogurt with these berries, Tillamook ice cream, Franz bread.
